Home Page: No matter where you are in the blog you can return to the Home Page by clicking on the Title of the blog (very top of every page). States and Jurisdictions w/Civil Commitment Centers: To see our complete list of all Civil Commitment Centers simply click on the square red boxed "Centers" see upper left of screen. Now, based on questions received over time, for the most part folks want to know what falls into these groupings:
Miscellaneous Item Links:: The title of each gives you an idea of what you will find by clicking on item. Most are very informative on the topic. Daily News (If any):: On the right side of the blog you'll find "NEWS by State," which is further subdivided by federal and individual states; simply click on the state of your choice. Note: Not every state has news every day, so when clicking on a state you will see the last news items for that state. Now, the "GeneralNews" item is unique, these are articles of merit that pertain to specific states, but, the topic is something that may apply anywhere; always read these, you never know what you'll find. You will notice news items are labeled "State Name-c". Court Decisions:: As courts issue decisions we will post them, and tag them like this "StateName-ct" which simply means a court decision for that state. Clicking on your state will allow you to read those decisions. For the most part we list those with news articles about them, if there is something of value in the article (there is no point to show every person who is civilly committed, unless there is something special about the case). If we are ALERTED to a case we will post it. We check for new decisions on the state and federal levels. If a case is appealed, we try to show those as well, again if there is something of value in it, with links to the decisions. "x-Violations" which means the person was charged with a violation of the civil commitment rules for that state. All state violations are included. All sorts of inferences can be drawn from these reports, and sometimes they point to abuses within the system that need to be rectified. Court & Lawsuit Topics:: It is not our intent to list every possible topic, but certain ones may be especially important to folks. ex: "#Cond of Confinement" this is a topic important to anyone civilly committed, no matter what state they are in. Over time we hope to develop the most important topics, so if you see one when reading a court decision, please let us know and we can phase it in to this system. Voices from Inside Facilities: Over time we are trying to give folks within facilities, that have Internet access [via computer or Smartphones], a place to voice their opinions, a few have already. Support Groups:: I think this speaks for itself. After careful searching it seems there are none that SPECIFICALLY focused on civil commitment. Those shown have discussion groups on the topic so that may be a good point to start for folks looking. Need a Lawyer: Clicking on the link "CC Commitment Defense Lawyers" will take you to a section explaining how we have approached this topic. Many of the lawyers listed have been known to get positive results in actions they have taken on. Let us know what your experience with them was, if you use one. Thanks.. SUBSCRIBING: This is a bit tricky. If you want everything we post then enter your e-mail and you will get it whenever we post anything. Now if you ONLY want what pertains to your state then please read "Follow Us" at the top of the page. Fact-Sheets (FS-____): These are worth their weight in gold. A consolidated place to let you know what we have gathered about this specific state, and one for defense lawyers. All sorts of topics are covered within the state. Let us know if you find these helpful. Lawsuits: We are very surprised there are not more lawsuits concerning CC Centers given the deplorable conditions we have read about. So when we find lawsuits we will list them and TAG them so folks can read about them. Articles w/Stats: Because there is no standard used for compiling stats on civil commitment we have opted to simply TAG anything we read that contains stats of some form. Excepting "Costs-Housing" which pertains to costs for housing in the community, all other stats deal with the various CC Centers. Articles Death or Suicide Stories: As we read articles and see a mention of a death or suicide in a CC facility, we tag them by state (SS-Death or SS-Suicide), so they can be retrieved later on. No state publishes any stats such as these and we must get them from published articles like this. Our Menu System: This is a quick way of getting to our other Topic blogs. Oddly Based Commitments?:: The world thinks that civil commitment is just for sex offenders following their sentence for their crime/s committed! We spend hours reading and researching topics and anytime we find something that says, or implies, the person's commitment was based on __??__ we dig into that further. We have found commitments based on non sex crimes, with no prior sex crime, and several other reasons. We immediately TAG what we are reading so folks can draw their own conclusions. Click on "Based on What?" to see what we have found. |
